The awarded with the Blue Flag beach of Velika is situated on the eastern coast of mainland Greece and comprises a natural continuation of the beaches Agiokampos and Sotiritsa.

 

The amazing combination of mountain Kissavos' green and Aegean Sea blue makes Velika a favorite summer destination. The beach with crystal clear Aegean water is in some places sandy while in other pebble. It is well organized, with many taverns, restaurants, supermarkets and beach bars.  

 

Every year rich cultural events are organized under the name "Filoktitia". Furthermore, one can experience alternative forms of tourism. Activities such as sea-kayak, pedal boat, catamaran, sailing, beach volley, beach soccer, wind serf, kite serf are just some of sports that take place on the beach Velika. In the area Platanias Velika one can find samples of Byzantine grandeur at the castle, highlighted by archaeological excavations. Using the same road you can visit the Monastery of St. John the Divine, which is a notable example of Byzantine style.

 

Neighboring villages worth visiting are Agia, Skiti, Melivoia, Rakopotamos, Polidendri, Agiokambos, Sotiritsa, Kokkino Nero, Koutsoupia, Paliouria, Stomio and Karitsa. A must see tourist attraction is also Meteora, a unique area with rock towers with the famous monasteries on top of them.
